My Second Green Smoothie...I Think?
To be honest, the first one is a blur. I do know, that I have made a green smoothie before and it was gross! I made it with kale and for some reason it didn't blend all that well so I could taste the particles. Anyway, I made my second green smoothie this morning and it was delicious!
I'm on a new health kick with my bestie Stephanie, who writes this awesome blog called Food Gossip. It's based on this book called Eat To Live where you embark on a plant-based diet for six weeks and slowly introduce meat and dairy back into your diet if you choose to.
This morning, I made a recipe from his book called Eat Your Greens Fruit Smoothie. I blended almond milk, pomegranate juice, a banana, spinach, frozen blueberries and ground flaxseed. Halfway through the blended, I notice the smoothie was turning a brownish color and I thought YUCK! This looks like dirt! The color never changed once the smoothie was finished but I decided to take the plunge and try not to focus on that. My first sip was yummy! Here's the recipe:
Eat Your Greens Fruit Smoothie
5 ounces baby spinach
1 banana
1 cup frozen blueberries (or any berries)
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or soy/hemp)
1/2 cup pomegranate juice (or other unsweetened fruit juice)
1 tbsp ground flaxseeds (optional)
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
Enjoy! xoxo

sounds good, i have a pomegranate fruit in my fridge right now, i wonder can i substitute it, i hope the seeds dont get in the way lol
ReplyDeleteIt sounds intriguing. I've just started a diet myself, I actually moved my butt this morning and jogged a bit. I would try this recipe but I could never find almond milk :(.
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley - I think the fruit would work and the seeds taste great anyway.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome, Unikorna! You can use any type of milk. I just use almond milk because I am staying away from dairy. xoxo!
I'm not a fan of smoothies because of the texture. I want mine to be super smooth, I mean, they're called smoothies after all. :)
ReplyDeleteBut this one sounds really yummy!!!
